== Starting an EP as a newbie ==

I would recommend you to have at least lvl 20 (bit over 2m exp) to get access to Vicissitude (lvl 9 in Path of Necromancy). Without this, you cannot repair your minion and must wait for it to regen on its own, which is suuuper slow.
After this I would highly recommend to get 1 level from Slumdogs of Czardom to get the " leg bone is connected to..." boon. This will GREATLY improve your vicissitude repair ticks. Races that can join Slumdogs, and are suited (in my
opinion) for starting EP's are: Beholder and Human. Shadowperson may also do, but has lower exp gain, where Beholder has nice spr and heartbeat (faster regen ticks) and human can Educe (lower the cost of 2 stats, I recommend Int and Wis,
or Wis and Constitution) and also has Leadership (+exp when '''leading''' a party, which you always do as EP at least when soloing) and human also has 100% base exp gain.

If you choose human, remember to "race educe <your stat of choice>" (two different stats) right after you make you reinc!

as for backgrounds, anything that gives you more spell points from Wis/Int, and more Health from Constitution would be my choices. Even if you have a tank, you will get hit or casted at in some situations, so you want some HP.

Use vicissitude at minion when there is a corpse in the room, to get more repair done. Can also be used without corpse, but with less effect. You can preserve corpses for future use if you want, with the "preserve corpse" skill.
