Affiliated stats: Primary: dexterity Secondary: wisdom Tertiary: strength This skill can be used without having any training in it. With this skill one is able to manufacture all kinds of bows. It is used in two ways. Using this skill with 'materials' as an argument makes you search for trees and pieces of wood from which you could make a suitable-sized bow for _yourself_. You can also look for 'long branches', 'short branches', 'very long branches' and 'very short branches'. Very strong characters might be able to use even 'extremely long branches'. The type of forest you search in determines what kind of wood is available, the type of wood determines some of the bow's qualities. When you wish to make a bow from the branch, you have to give additional arguments. The first argument is the stiffness of the bow. It will determine the strength that is needed to draw and fire the bow with full effect. The stiffness levels are 'flexible', 'normal' and 'stiff'. You need to pass the type of the bow as a second argument - you will try to make a bow of the type specified by the argument, the types being 'standard', 'cross', 'composite', 'recurve' and 'compound'. If you wish, you can try to make the bow suited especially for someone, OR your _own_ race. Recurve bows and crossbows require a metal arch in addition to the branch, composite bows need glue, and compound bows require a set of small pulleys. The quality of the bow made will be determined by your skill in bowery and craftsmanship, as well as your dexterity, and the size of the bow will be determined by the size of the branch you are making it from. 'help bows' will show some information on what recurve, composite, and compound bows are like. Syntax: 'use bowery at <stiffness> <type> for <player/race>' Examples: 'use bowery at materials', 'use bowery at long branches' 'use bowery at stiff standard for galiere', 'use bowery at flexible recurve'. 'use bowery at spruce branch', 'use bowery at extremely long spruce branch'. [[category:skills]]
