Your race affects stats, vision, size, allergies and access to racial guilds. Start with Race table to compare races, then read a race's own page for its abilities and limits.

Choosing your first race

A prepared Quick Start character is a useful way to learn. If you choose a race yourself, read its vision and allergy information as well as its stats. A race that struggles with daylight or water can make everyday travel harder.

You do not need to optimise every training cost before playing. Reincarnation lets you rebuild later.

Reading the race table

  • STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS and CHA costs: how many advancement points it costs to train the corresponding stat. Lower costs make that stat cheaper to raise.
  • MELEE and SPELL: summaries of physical or spellcasting stat costs. These compare costs, not total combat strength.
  • HPR, EPR, SPR and PSPR: regeneration of health, endurance, spell points and psychic spell points.
  • HRATE: how often regeneration ticks occur. A smaller interval means more frequent ticks.
  • Exp: the race's experience modifier. Other bonuses or penalties may also apply.
  • Size: physical size in centimetres; this affects what equipment fits.

The table also lists racial guild access. Read the linked guild pages to see what they offer. Wanderers, Hive and Nomads of the wild are racial guilds; they are different from your main guild.

Use the text race table instead of the older race-chart image, whose values are out of date. In the game, help races and help race give further information. Individual race pages are listed below.
