Become a supporting member

Supporting members fund Jää ry directly. The fee pays for servers and infrastructure, so the game runs with no advertising, no shareholders and no in-game purchases, and stays free for every other player.

Membership fee

50 EUR per year. Paid annually, renewable each year by paying again.

What you get

• Association meetings: the right to attend Jää ry meetings, including the annual general meeting where the board is elected and the direction of the association is decided.
• Member events: occasional events for members, online and in person, including the annual MudCon.
• A thank-you on your character: 250 permanent Divine Favors for each membership year. It is a thank-you rather than a purchase: Icesus has no in-game store and is not pay-to-win.

After you pay

So we can register you as a member and grant your benefits, please send a mudmail to Lofa in-game with:

• The date of your bank transfer (or PayPal payment)
• Your real name
• Your email address
• Your postal address

Existing members renew the same way: pay the fee, mudmail Lofa.

Volunteer with us

Icesus is built and maintained by volunteers, and we need more, especially wizards who build or code.

Become a creator

Build areas, characters and adventures with Icesus Creator, our browser worldbuilding tool. You need player level 25 or above, good writing skills and a creative mind. Join our Discord and say hello in #creator to talk about your first idea. Creator lets players build areas for wizard review; becoming a wizard is a separate path.

Become a wizard

Wizards build the world: they design areas, write quests and monsters, code new guilds and game systems, run events, and welcome new players.

What we look for:

• Ideas, preferably original, for areas, monsters, quests or game systems that fit the world of Aegic
• Good written English: builders’ area and monster descriptions must be clear and well written
• Dedication: wizarding is a long-term volunteer commitment
• Some coding experience helps but is not required; we can teach you LPC

How to apply:

1. Play Icesus and learn the world. We require your character to reach level 25 before applying (special exceptions exist for mudlib or systems work).
2. Find a wizard willing to sponsor you. Join the in-game coding channel and take part in discussions there to meet wizards.
3. Your sponsor takes your application into the formal process and guides you through the next steps.

Other ways to contribute

• Report bugs and suggest features Open an issue on GitHub or type bug report followed by a description in the game. Clear reports save us hours.
• Edit the wiki Our wiki documents the world, guilds, races, skills, and items. Players are welcome to add and improve articles.
• Improve accessibility If you use a screen reader and find something we missed, let us know through the accessibility page. We prioritise these reports.
• Vote and review Cast a vote on Mudverse or MudVault. Votes raise Icesus in their listings, which brings new players.
• Tell a friend If you enjoy Icesus, tell someone who might like it.
• Join the community Hang out on Discord and on the in-game channels. Answering a new player’s question on the newbie channel helps too.
