Icesus is a free online text role-playing game. You read the world, type your actions and share it with other players. Its last habitable valley is surrounded by ice.

Play in your browser or read Quickstart to begin. Here are some of the things you can work toward.

Explore and solve problems

Travel between cities, forests, ruins and underground places. Read descriptions, examine scenery and speak to the people you meet. Some offer work, directions or quests. Newbie areas gives you places to begin; the atlas helps you plan a route.

Build a character

Your race and background shape your starting character. Guilds teach skills and spells: you can become a fighter, healer, mage, ranger or follow another path. Professions and racial guilds offer other ways to develop.

You spend experience on advancement and training. Many guilds also have masteries that grow through use. Read a guild's own page to see how its abilities work.

Fight together

Explore alone or join a party. Fighters can protect spellcasters and healers through the party's formation. Your combat settings, equipment, skills and choice of opponent all matter. Learn to retreat and recover as well as attack.

Make and trade useful things

Hunt, fish, gather materials, make equipment and trade with other players. Moneymaking tips covers ways to start. Province workshops, sawmills and smelteries give crafters places to work. Check an item's condition and read Equipment damage to learn about maintenance.

Help a settlement grow

Provinces are settlements built and run by player councils. You can take jobs, bring in food and materials, or earn access to local services without owning one. A council can claim land, put up buildings and manage its stores and treasury.

Try a different life

Reincarnation lets you choose a new race and rebuild your guild path. You return to level one, with previously spent experience available in separate pools for rebuilding. A temporary experience penalty applies. Read the guide before starting; it explains the pools, divine favour and the need to finish the process without quitting.

Keep learning with other players

Ask questions on the newbie channel, find a party, or join an event when it is announced. Type gameinfo for game updates. The forum and Discord are places to talk outside the game.
