Reincarnation
Reincarnation lets you choose a new gender, race, kingdom and story, and rebuild your guild path. It returns you to level one, but the experience you spent in your old life is stored for rebuilding.
Understand the experience pools
- Level experience comes from experience spent on levels and advancement points. Use
expto see it. You can spend it on levels, advancement points or training. - Skill experience comes from previous skill and spell training. It is kept per stat, and
guildsshows how much each stat holds. It cannot buy levels or advancement points. When you train, the cost is drawn from it first, most heavily from the skill's primary stat, and the part it covers needs no money. Training paid with level experience costs money as usual.
Both pools are protected from loss through death. Your skills and guild levels must still be trained and chosen again. A new path that leans on the same stats as your old one gets the most out of your skill experience.
Divine favour, blessings and equipment
Your ordinary divine favour is reset. You begin the new life with a small amount that grows with your permanent divine favour. All your blessings leave you, and the permanent divine favour you spent on constant and special blessings is returned for you to spend again.
You keep your equipment. Anything you wear or wield is taken off, and guild items are taken away.
If your connection drops partway through, logging back in returns you to the step you were on. Do not use emergency_quit during the process: it drops everything you carry.
The temporary penalty
Reincarnation strains the soul. For a while afterwards, 40% of the experience you earn goes to easing that strain instead of reaching you. The strain is larger for a character who has earned more, and it also fades slowly on its own while you are logged in and active. score shows how far your soul has recovered. Once it has recovered, you earn experience normally again.
Ordinary divine favour you hold when you reincarnate eases the strain from the start: the more favour you carry, the lighter it is. That favour is reset when creation ends anyway, so it pays to arrive with plenty.
Plan your next life
The character builder lets you plan a reincarnation ahead of time. Sign in with your character's name and password and save up to ten plans. A plan covers every choice creation asks for and names the guild you mean to join.
When you reincarnate, the first room lists your saved plans. build shows them, build <code> reviews one and build <code> confirm carries it out. You still join the guild yourself once you are back in the world, and you can always ignore the plans and make each choice by hand.
The guild guide, Race table and the reinc simulator help you compare paths. Ask other players about the costs and preparation before entering the process.
Arrange a reincarnation
Chronomancers know the reincarnation spell. Type reincers to see who is online and available, or reincers all to list everyone online who knows the spell. The chronomancer opens a time-vortex for you in the void; step into it with enter vortex before it fades. You need a main guild and at least level 3. A more skilled chronomancer leaves you a lighter penalty.
Characters from level 2 to 30 can ask Rassdael instead. He asks no payment, and his penalty is as light as the most skilled chronomancer's. He is in the small chamber of the priests of Earth, one room west of the Temple of the Dead, a little west of Vaerlon. Ask him about reincarnation.
If you want to stop yourself from reincarnating for a while, reincban bars player-cast reincarnation for 7 to 30 days.
Spell information
Casting is verbal. Intelligence, wisdom and plane manipulation help with the spell. Its affiliated stats are wisdom, intelligence and charisma, in that order. Its elements are Magic +2, Earth +1, Air -1 and Antimagic -2.
The time-vortex opens only in the void. Your skill in the spell and in time manipulation decides whether it opens, how long it stays open and how light a penalty your target carries. Cast anywhere else, the spell instead tells you how long ago your target last entered the vortex. When your target steps in, you gain some experience and divine favour. Use reincers toggle to list yourself as available. Read help spell reincarnation before using the spell; a fumble can have serious effects.
