Moneymaking tips
You need silver for training, supplies and equipment. Start with work you can finish safely, then try more options as your skills grow. Prices paid by players change; ask for a current offer before selling a rare item.
Your first silver
In Vaerlon, use hike to warehouse and speak to Vizra. She pays young adventurers for work in the rat-infested warehouse. Ask her about the task before going below. Her rat work is for characters up to level 10; deeper warehouse floors are much more dangerous.
Newbie areas lists other places with early tasks. Speak to people, examine the surroundings and follow the clues. Fighting is only one way to make progress.
Sell useful finds
Sell unwanted equipment to a shop that buys it. Use the shop's value or price commands before selling. What a shop accepts, its funds and your reputation can affect the offer.
Some animal corpses can be skinned. help skin explains the command, tools and skill. Hides can be sold to a fur trader such as Denso in Vaerlon, or kept for crafting. Make sure loot is yours to take, and do not overfill your pack.
Work in a province
You can help a settlement without owning it. Type mission search to find work, visit its board and read board. Check the required task, deadline, reward and deposit before accepting. Most deposits are returned only when you finish; abandoning or missing the deadline loses them.
Provinces also buy food and some materials. Use value <item> where offered before making a delivery. The settlement needs money and storage space to accept goods. Read Province missions and Provinces for the commands.
Hunt, fish and craft
Hunting can bring animals whose hides or meat are useful. Fishing supplies food and offers its own rewards. Read help hunt and help fish before buying tools or leaving town.
Crafting can turn materials into useful goods, but tools, training and mistakes cost money. Start with a recipe you can afford. Ask players what they need before making many items to sell. Professions and province workshops offer paths into this work.
Check rare finds before selling
Shards, charms and racial boons may be useful to other players. Their value depends on the exact item and current demand. There is no reliable fixed price for every shard, boon or point of fishing karma.
Use keep to protect a find while you ask about it. Compare offers rather than treating an old wiki price as a guaranteed minimum.
Understand prices
Money values are commonly given in silver. 10 silver = 1 gold; 100 silver = 1 platinum; 1,000 silver = 1 mithril. A price of 150k silver means 150,000 silver, not 150,000 gold.
Keep enough for your next training session, food and travel. Improve a few useful skills and buy equipment you can use now.
