The city of Silverspire is located at the border between the Eskaran and Children of Light regions. It is as such controlled by the Templars, but not in the same way under their iron fist as the other northern provinces in general. The city has been successful and its inhabitants enjoy relatively large freedoms. Opportunities to trade with the Nordic countries have also made it a city of great prosperity. The city is heavily fortified and contains over a thousand real houses and some small shacks. The city is home to a total of about five to ten thousand elves and dwarves who derive their income mainly from agriculture, although hunting and livestock breeding bring a little more variety to eating just bread and turnips. However, cattle rearing in particular has recently been difficult due to the escalation of raids by Eskarans. They have never reached the city, but grazing livestock outside is an attractive target for the horde. The official defense of the city is the responsibility of the elven kingdom of Silverspire and the dwarven kingdom of Khazakul. Riding soldiers can rally anywhere aroudn the city for less than half a day, but as it can take almost one day to get the word out of the countryside, the villagers in the area are accustomed to taking care of themselves and each other. Every house has spears and riche houses have even swords when needed. So far, the area's khan has watched this arming of peasants through his fingers because he is a man of common sense and understands the need for the city to defend itself against the Eskarese. In the city of Silverspire, as in many others, residents are known for their home houses. Generally, if only one family lives in one house, this is not a problem. If people of several families live in the same house, they are quickly considered to be members of the same family. = City Map =
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^*^^^+-------------C--------------+^^^*^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^/..............................\^^^^^^^^ ^^^^+R-+.##############################.+-b+^^^^ ^^^/....##............................##....\^^^ ^^+.#####.##############h#############.#####.+^^ ^^|.#....##..........................##....#.|^^ ^^|.#.####.............#.#............####.#.|^^ ^^|.#.#...............##.##..............#.#.|^^ ^^|.#.#..####w#......##J.###.....####e#..#.#.|^^ ^^|.#.#..#....#.....##.....##....#....#..#.#.|^^ ^^|.#.#..#.W#A#....##..#B#..##...#X#E.#..#.#.|^^ ^^|.#.#..#.####...##..###Q#..##..####.#..#.#.|^^ ^^|.h.#..#....#...##..#F###..##..#....#..#.h.|^^ ^^|.#.#..####.#....##..#Y#..##...#.#S##..#.#.|^^ ^^|.#.#..#....#.....##.....##....#....#..#.#.|^^ ^^|.#.#..#w####......###.G##.....####e#..#.#.|^^ ^^|.#.#.........#V#...##.##..............#.#.|^^ ^^|.#.####......#I#....#.#............####.#.|^^ ^^|.#....###........................H##....#.|^^ ^^+.#####.##############h#############.#####.+^^ ^^^\....##............................##..../^^^ ^^^^+i-+.##############################.+-f+^^^^ ^^^^^^^^\............................../^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^*^^^+-------------C--------------+^^^*^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Legend: * # : Inner walls * ^ : Clouds and mountain slopes * | : North-south running wall * / : Northeast-southwest running wall * - : East-west running wall * \ : Northwest-southeast running wall * + : Wall * I : Silverspire Inn * * : Pillars of magic * w : Western Commercial district * e : Eastern Commercial district * A : Silverspire Armoury * I : Tavern of the Famed * C : Silverspire City Gates * h : Silverspire inner gates * X : Silverspire Smithy * E : Silverspire Channeler * V : Silverspire Stables * J : Silverspire Jewelry * B : Silverspire Bank * W : Silverspire Weaponry * Q : Temple of Shards * F : Silverspire Garrison * H : Cat Lady's house * S : Silverspire General store * G : Silverspire Adventurers guild * Y : The Wyvern Gulch * R : The Boreal Reach * f : The Fjord of Last Rites * i : The Infested Ruins * b : The Bottom of Betrayal * . : Streets of the City of Silverspire The city has also extensive sewer system which is a good source of newbie experience and silver. =Warfare (provinces) = This is a kingdom which is capable of using stealth and information superiority for tactical advantage. They are defined by a large army of stealth capable units, including the only stealth capable legion in the game. The elves are superior in espionage and use this power to sniff out allied codes (but not command codes) of the units they encounter, so this means your allied codes will not be safe if you deal with them. This means the elves might slip through your province security and use this opportunity to spy or steal your resources. Even Silverian trade caravans and other non-military units are able to go stealth. Best way to ensure this wont happen is to cycle your allied codes on a regular basis, especially if you have had any contact with them. This kingdom is of neutral alignment. The armies of Silverians consists of units which are driven mostly by the elves. =Battlefields= Silverspire is known across the realm for its arena-like battlefields. The City Hosts five massive battlefield housings, one of which is in center of the city, and four others are built around the outer perimeter of the city. The city is highly industrialized due to elven-dwarven collaboration and as such, it is becoming a natural choice for various war machine factories and testing areas. Many kingdoms let their forces fight each other in front of highly-placed representatives to encourage and strengthen their position among the high-ups in this powerhouse of the Valley. It was not long ago until these large events were informed and betting has commenced on outcomes of these fights in a very serious way. Also, many kingdoms use battlefields of Silverspire as training grounds for their fighting forces in which kingdoms and mercenaries combat for glory, gamblers place money on bets and fortunes trade owners daily. == Wyvern Gulch == Scale: Skirmishes
Description: The Wyvern Gulch is a massive arena housed right in the center of Silverspire and it is famous for (newbie) training opportunities it provides. It is suitable for battles consisting of 1-2 squads in both teams.
== Bottom of Betrayal == Scale: Skirmish/minor battles
Description: The Bottom of Betrayal is actually a re-enactment of a battle in a distant past, which took place in the bottom of a deep gorge. It is suitable for battles consisting of 3-4 squads on both sides (aka a platoon level battle).
== Infested Ruins == Scale: Minor/major battles
Description: In Infested ruins the other team holds position in a ruined fort, while the other team is trying to smoke them out. It is suitable for battles consisting of 1 or more platoons.
== Fjord of Last Rites == Scale: Major battles
Description: The Fjord of Last Rites is a famous battleground between two fjells in the outer rim of Silverspire. A flowing river splits the battleground in two while mountains block line of sight, making treacherous use of terrain a big part of a successful battle plan. Suitable for company (2 or more platoons) level battles.
== Boreal Reach == Scale: Epic battles (province level events)
Description: The Boreal Reach is an area to the northeast in which an old abandoned castle juts out from the surrounding mountain side, making this an ideal setting for defending land. In epic scale battles, involvement of one or more companies is more a rule than an exception, and in battles of such proportions even provinces can change owners.
