War mages have devised this spell in order to increase their survivability
in melee combat as they cannot always count to be able to cast their spells
undisturbed. Using his own mana the mage envelopes himself in protective
energy that reduces impact of all incoming attacks, be they spells or melee
attacks. While this effect is fairly spectacular it does tax the mage's
magical strength. How big percentage the spell absorbs can be adjusted with
'mana_shield <number>' command. Default percentage is 5. Amount of spell
points drained by the absorbation depends on the percentage. High
percentages take more spell points per point of damage than lower
percentages. 'mana_shield remove' can be used to dispel the effect.
