tomes. These esoteric and occult treatises hold collectively vast amounts
of esoteric knowledge and secrets. The spell, promise of power, is derived
from this hoard of knowledge. The spell allows one to alter the spell
recipient's relationship with natural laws that push down on less than
divine beings, the laws which throttle the actual innate abilities of most
mortals. There are numerous laws pushing down at the same time,
unfortunately, the spell is limited in its effectiveness and can only be
used to push back one law affecint a single creature. To see a list of laws
it can influence, cast the spell without a target. Unfortunately, the spell
cannot affect be used to target oneself, either.
