What this guild is about

Spear and sacred fire.

Firepriests set sparks, embers and other magical effects on an enemy, then set them off with a spear thrust through their Spellblade manoeuvre. Their faith in Zrammas holds warmth and compassion beside destructive fervour: in a frozen world, fire gives life as well as taking it.

The order asks for passion. In combat you prepare an enemy with fire magic, stay close enough to fight and pick the moment when your spear sets off what you prepared, and that link between weapon and sacred power is the heart of the guild. The faith has a similar split. Outsiders see burning cities; believers also see a warm shelter and a force that preserves life, and the order’s funeral rite honours even a bitter enemy. A Firepriest brings all of that into battle, where careful sequencing and religious fervour can hit very hard.

You might feel at home here if…

  • You like preparing a target, then releasing the effect with your spear.
  • You want to learn the conditions behind each fire combination.
  • You’re drawn to a faith that holds warmth, devotion and dangerous fervour together.

Lore & origins

A flame worth tending, a flame worth fearing

Zrammas’s followers know their reputation. Many people consider Firepriests destructive zealots who want only to burn the world to ash. The faithful answer that fire also gives life, warmth and compassion, and the order teaches both without giving up its capacity for terrible violence. Priests commit intensely to their religion, and its stricter traditions include personal sacrifice and harsh penances. Their fervour in combat comes from that demanding relationship with the goddess.

The grand cathedral at Atherton is the faith’s public home. Its main hall holds a congregation of hundreds and an altar for ceremonies and for accepting new initiates. Beyond it is the inner shrine, where believers affirm their faith in Zrammas. The Order of the Burning Lance has quarters beside the main hall, and another sanctum keeps the sacred scrolls in a room built so that a preacher’s voice carries.

The Missionary of Fire carries the teaching beyond Atherton. It was once a little-used side chapel; now the faithful gather there around ritual fires and a sea of candles, and the blackened altar stays warm. After a fight, the order’s Funeral Pyre rite honours the spirit of a slain foe, however bitter the struggle, and any Firepriests present can join it.

A place in the world

The Missionary of Fire and Atherton cathedral

The Missionary welcomes believers among small ritual fires and candles. Atherton’s grand cathedral holds the rest of the faith’s life: sacred scripture, an inner shrine and the Order of the Burning Lance.

Their role in a fight

Set it up, then strike.

Firepriests combine spear fighting with spells whose effects often wait for a trigger. Your job is to build a sequence: set up the right magical conditions, then release them with Spellblade. You need to be in close combat, because the weapon is part of the magic.

With a party

Time your releases to the targets the party is fighting. Emberstorm can burst across all your opponents when triggered, so the timing matters beyond the one prepared target. Companions who keep the fight stable give you room to set up combinations, and you add steady pressure with bursts that pay off your preparation.

On your own

Alone, keep your opening simple enough to manage while you take hits. Kindle gives you quick flame, and the spear keeps you in contact with the opponent. As you learn more, add combinations you can keep going without losing control of the fight, and learn what each preparation does before stacking several.

Trade-offs

Some of your best spells do little on their own. Emberstorm’s circling embers wait for a trigger, and the spell needs religious fervour. Casting effects without knowing their conditions wastes time and magical power. Once you learn them, your weapon, preparation and release fit together closely.

Abilities

Signature abilities

  1. Spellblade

    Spear and spell catalyst

This manoeuvre joins melee skill to Firepriest magic. It can set off effects already placed on a victim, or work with certain named spell effects in another mode. It is the centre of your combinations: the spear strike turns lingering sparks, embers or fumes into an attack.

  2. Kindle

    Quick ignition

A fast, simple burst of flame that lights small fires on what it hits. The damage is modest, but the flame can set up the condition that stronger magic needs, which makes it a good opening move.

  3. Emberstorm

    Prepared attack against several foes

Crackling embers circle a target until Spellblade or Lance of the Goddess sets them off in a shower that hits the priest’s opponents. Other Firepriest effects can change or strengthen the result. It needs religious fervour, so you have to meet its conditions before it pays off.

  4. Funeral Pyre

    The rite after battle

Sanctify the corpse of a slain enemy with a short rite meant to help the spirit on its way. Other Firepriests in the party join in. Reverence for Zrammas includes respect for the dead.

Progression

Learn the rites of Zrammas.

The Missionary teaches the basics: spear use, combat defence, religious knowledge and the beginnings of the Spellblade style. Further study connects fervour, direct spell effects and the combinations waiting on an opponent, and the order’s martial and scriptural traditions add more than a list of fire attacks. Learn which effects prepare, which trigger and which need fervour, and read the guild lessons and spell help as your repertoire grows, because many of the impressive effects depend on others.
