What this guild is about
Inherit a power with a history.
Scions are dhamphirs, heirs to true vampire bloodlines whose dwindling elders expect them to carry the legacy onward. They combine physical combat with dark arts, life essence and the harvesting of souls. Later bloodline allegiance gives that inheritance a different expression, from exacting swordplay to natural weapons and the study of blood itself.
The Scions are about inheritance that is both power and burden. Their strength arrives with memories, appetites and the expectations of older beings. Early Dark Assault expresses that uneasy beginning: ancestral movement can surface before the young dhamphir fully understands it. Training turns those fragments into a more deliberate identity. The bloodlines then offer different answers to what the inheritance should become, whether through martial excellence, predatory freedom, influence or understanding the Source. This is a hybrid calling in which fighting and forbidden knowledge belong together, and where an elegant appearance can conceal something far less human.
You might feel at home here if…
- You enjoy mixing melee decisions with dark supernatural techniques.
- You want a bloodline choice with a distinct identity and history.
- You like timing a fight’s ending for a benefit beyond the kill.

Lore & origins
Heirs to a fading night
The Scions’ own account corrects a familiar tale: true vampires are born into bloodlines, not created by an ordinary bite or a drink of blood. Lesser vampiric undead and the strigoi associated with the priesthood of Earth are different beings. As the true bloodlines diminish, their half-blood descendants—the dhamphirs—are called to take up the mantle. They remain humanoid and initially far below their ancestors in power, but the dark arts can reveal echoes of the old bloodlines’ horrors. Inheritance, rather than infection, defines their place in the night.
The main training chamber combines a study with a sparring room. Old, mysterious books fill shelves around a space scattered with swords, and Tevoseoric teaches the fledgling Scions there. Nearby rooms lie beneath an unfinished palace, between a former treasury and a crypt. This pairing of scholarship and violence is deliberate in practice: the first training develops forbidden lore alongside melee combat, then asks the dhamphir to choose a bloodline allegiance. Dathaghul, a vampire bloodlord in Graemor, stands within that older world of formidable figures who can resemble ordinary nobles.
The families do not share one temperament. Swaizzone elders near Cenedoiss pursue swordsmanship and test themselves against difficult foes. Ilyuktyev favour natural weapons and brutal freedom, with dark arts that include disease. Brelasean influence Cenedoiss through noble families and an outwardly benign presence that conceals the draining of communal life essence. Corizvor seek understanding of the blood and the Source; the Unraveling drove them from long isolation. Choosing a lineage therefore means entering a particular interpretation of the inheritance, not simply selecting a differently coloured version of the same vampire.

A place in the world
The chambers beneath old Graemor’s palace
The first Scion study and sparring chamber sits among dark rooms associated with the palace’s unfinished lower spaces. Books and old swords make the profession’s dual education visible. The wider bloodline story extends beyond Graemor into Cenedoiss and the households of vampire nobles, giving the guild a network of competing ancestral identities.
Explore the world around themTheir role in a fight
Let the bloodline shape the battle.
Scions bring physical combat together with dark magical attacks and life-essence techniques. The balance changes with bloodline and training: swordplay, natural weapons and other inherited arts need not produce the same fighter. Early abilities already encourage a hybrid approach, with Dark Assault alongside Kiss of Death, Ghostflame and the preparation needed to harvest useful soul essences from a kill.

With a party
In a party, contribute the close-combat or dark-art emphasis you have developed and pay attention to the timing of a target’s death. Soul Rend is a temporary preparation for harvesting essence, so it must still be active when the victim dies. That creates a concrete coordination point with companions: choosing the right target and applying the effect at a useful moment.
On your own
A solo Scion manages the relationship between damage, life essence and the resources their techniques consume. Kiss of Death can begin combat or work during it, while Dark Assault gives younger dhamphirs an early active manoeuvre. Soul harvesting adds another decision near the end of a fight. The result is a profession interested in what can be taken from victory as well as how quickly it arrives.
The choices you make
The bloodline fantasy comes with different mechanics rather than universal vampiric advantages. Soul Rend is brief and does little harm by itself; Kiss of Death’s life-draining aspect concerns living targets. Dark Assault can produce different outcomes and requires the resources or equipment appropriate to them. Later allegiance also matters, so do not assume every Scion has the same weapons, defences or approach to damage.
Power, explained
Signature abilities
Dark Assault
Ancestral combat memories
Tap the movements and powers remembered by the blood. This early manoeuvre can produce different effects, including dark energy, sudden combat momentum or a weapon attack when the conditions permit. It provides young dhamphirs with an active way to fight while they develop the more deliberate techniques of their chosen path.
Kiss of Death
Life essence as an attack
Drain life from a living opponent or project corrupted life essence as a spell against the target’s soul. It can be used to begin combat as well as during a fight. The living victim matters to its draining aspect: blood left after the soul has departed no longer carries that same life essence.
Ghostflame
Fire from beyond
Channel nether energy through fingertips or a weapon and release a burst of ghostflame. Although it looks like fire, the spell’s lore identifies its underlying nature as magical, with powerful manifestations able to burn more literally. It gives the Scion a dark-art attack that belongs beside physical combat rather than ordinary elemental fire worship.
Soul Rend
Prepare an essence harvest
Temporarily tear at a living victim’s soul so a piece can be harvested when that victim dies. The spell is chiefly preparation, not a large damaging attack, and the effect does not last long. Time it near a kill or renew it when necessary; only some creatures carry the valuable essences the guild seeks.
These are examples from the guild’s wider training. Availability and strength depend on your guild path, skills and current game rules; an initiate starts with a smaller repertoire.
Learning the tradition
Discover what your blood remembers.
The first stage teaches the dhamphir how to combine fighting with forbidden lore and introductory dark arts. Tevoseoric eventually directs the student toward a bloodline allegiance, with Dathaghul helping explain the choice. Read those traditions as meaningful directions: the disciplined swordsman, the natural-weapon predator, the influential noble lineage and the seeker of blood’s secrets offer different ambitions. Continue developing the abilities that support the chosen approach, while learning how life essence and soul harvesting fit the fighting routine. Advancement is the gradual conversion of an inherited, sometimes uncontrolled power into a purposeful identity within the larger vampire world.
For a first character, the guided builder offers a selection of starting professions. The complete guild reference and in-game teachers explain entry requirements and further training.
