Geology lets a miner read the rock. It works through the prospect command: prospect site, at a province mine entrance or in one of its tunnels, reports how worked-out each shaft is, and prospect <ore sample> names the material of an ore sample. The more geology you have, the deeper you can read and the more exact the reading.
