This is the knowledge of solid compounds with a fairly well defined composition and a specific structure that occurs naturally in pure form. It allows the geologist to firstly identify the mineral via a series of tests. This skill also benefits the miner in determining the best way to mine certain ores and also assists the refiner in understanding how minerals react under temperature.

A mining and smelting skill, taught by the Apprentice Miners, Professional Miners and Professional Refiners. See Mining and Smelting, and Crafting for every craft.
