Listen

From Icesus Wiki
Command: Listen
===============

Usage: listen <on | off | marker>

Use this command to listen to your surroundings and pick up audio trails. Use 'listen on' to start listening. Use 'listen off' to stop listening. Use 'listen marker' to print out a directional marker to help locate the audio source.

The strength of the audio source varies from 0...9 and !, with ! being the loudest.

This is what a short period of listening looks like:

.-------------------------------------------------------------.
.....sw.......W......nw.......N......ne.....E.......se......S
...........................4..93..........................77.
...........................4..93..........................77.
...........................4..93..........................77.
...........................4..93..........................77.
...........................4..93..........................77.
...........................4..93..........................77.
.....sw.......W......nw.......N......ne.....E.......se......S
...........................4..93..........................77.
...........................4..93..........................77.
...........................4..93..........................77.
'-------------------------------------------------------------'

Time flows down. In this example situation we hear a total of five audio sources, three to the north and two to the south.

The audio source directly to the north is the strongest, at '9'. Right next to it, to both left and right, are comparatively weak sources, '3' and '4'. The two sources to the south are both fairly strong, at '7'.

Note that the strength of an audio source changes depending on how close you are to it.

Listening is not yet supported everywhere. It works in the outworld, in the House of clan Bloodaxe and in a few other places, but not inside the city of Vaerlon. Listening doesn't work from the air.
