Mine

From Icesus Wiki
Mine ore from underground mineral veins.

Usage: mine <direction> - mine in a direction
mine status - check mine conditions
mine map - show mine map

Directions: north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest,
            southeast, southwest, down (requires lift)

You need a wielded mining pick. Heavier ores require more
prowess. Deeper levels have richer veins but more danger.
Install supports to reduce disaster risk.

A mine is worked until every seam within its reach is dug
out, untouched rock included, or until its timbers wear out;
supports slow the wear. 'mine status' at the mine entrance
shows how much rock is left, and when only a few seams remain,
'mine map' marks the ones near you with '!'. A dug-out or
worn-out mine is abandoned: the council can reopen it deeper
with 'build upgrade', or seal it and free the lot with 'mine
reset' at the mine yard.

To get a pick: any province storehouse stocks a cheap iron one
for soft ores, and Sobrin's Trinklets in the Master Artisans
guild basement in Vaerlon sells better picks in a range of
materials ('ask sobrin about picks').

Now and then a miner digging below the top level breaks into
something older than the mine. Such places are dangerous, and each
can be found only once. The settlement that owns the mine, and those
who fight beside its members, can claim what the place keeps.

Examples:
mine north - mine the north wall
mine down - dig deeper (requires lift)
mine status - check ore type and mastery
