----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Synopsis: give a short name to some words
Usage: nickname <nickname> [=] <the-real-name>
nickname list [pattern]
unnickname \<nickname> (note backslashes!!)
unnickname -all
If you 'nickname mbo = misrobo' then any time 'mbo' appears (by itself)
on the command line it will be replaced by 'misrobo'. So you could
simply type 'tell mbo More stuff is broken.' and save some typing.
It's particularly useful when you have a friend named 'gwhsxtqkr'. You
can 'nickname gw = gwhsxtqkr' and carry on.
If you need to type the nickname, and not have it be expanded (like to
unnickname or talk about the name on chat) you can put a \ in front of
it and it will be left alone.
To remove a nickname, use 'unnickname', but remember to use the
backslash in front of the name.
When you decide you have too many nicknames and want to start over, you
can use 'unnickname -all' and they all go away.
Also note: The first word of a command is special. It is expanded with
'alias' instead of nicknames.
