Wood may be joined using many methods; glue, binding, mortising, nailing, and combinations of these. A carpenter skilled in joinery will be able to quickly select the most appropriate means of joining two parts of an item, and deftly construct the joint. Experts in joinery are able to design items so that the joints are easier to make and perform better.
