Mantis (kingdom)

The Mantis Hive is the largest body of governance for the thri-kreen and other insectoid races. Its home is the warm city of Rise.

There is no "I" in the Hive, only the swarm. Each member thinks of its body as one part of a larger whole, and decisions are made together or not at all.

Cold is the Hive's true enemy, worse than any army. The Mantis cannot live in arctic lands, and their scientists are looking for a way to live in colder places. Members learn early to endure long marches, hold formation and fight without tiring. Nothing in the Hive is wasted, not even the fallen.
