Bare 'province' shows the settlement you stand in, or your council's
when you are away: its pillars, what needs attention, buildings,
stores, food, treasury and territory, and your own standing there.
'province <name>' shows the public face of any claimed province.

The guide is 'help provinces'. Buildings, construction and food have
their own pages: 'help province buildings', 'help province
    construction' and 'help province food'.

Looking around:

province map -- the grid of lots around you
    province map <number|name>
Draws the province's lots, buildings and paths around you, with a
legend. Standing in the province, it also names the lot under your
@, such as 'tile 2,2'; job and building lists number lots the same
        way.

A council with more than one province can map any of them from
anywhere: 'province map 2', or by name, 'province map driftwood'.
        The map lists the numbers.

province buildings -- every building, its tier and condition
    province buildings <number|name>
Lists each building with its tier, condition and lot. A '*' marks
one that needs attention and a '!' one that has stopped working.
Work under way shows its progress. Takes a number or name like
        'province map'.

province dashboard -- upkeep: wages, food, what needs attention
The council's upkeep view: the coming month's wages and taxes, how
long the food lasts, what needs attention, and the work under way.
The same summary greets council members when they log in.

province news -- what is new in a settlement
    province news mute|unmute
In a settlement: the last thirty days of buildings finished, stages
signed off, board work and who did it, finds in the mine and
feasts, and whether food is short. Treasury and council business
        stay in 'province log'.

Away from any settlement it reads the news of your council's
settlements and of each one where you keep a home. You also get
that news when you log in; 'province news mute' stops it and
'province news unmute' brings it back.

province log [<options>] -- the council's event log
The province's log of treasury, building, roster and defence
events. Takes the same options as 'council log', such as 'province
log -d 7' for the last week.

province council -- who sits on the council
Lists the members of the council holding this province, marks the
founder and shows who is online.

province balance -- the treasury, and the month's wages and taxes
Shows the treasury, the monthly upkeep and the monthly tax income,
and how much is already promised to workers on missions and so
        cannot be spent.

province census -- housing and population
How many settlers the housing holds, and how the population fares.

    province stores -- the stockpile
The same as 'stores': the province's stockpile, or the bins of the
mine, smeltery or sawmill you stand in.

province reputation -- your standing in every province
    province reputation <name>
    province reputation neutral
Lists your standing in every province where you have one, best
first. Give part of a name to see only those provinces; 'neutral'
lists the provinces where you are neither known nor disliked,
which are otherwise only counted. 'score -r' is the short form.

province lots -- every lot for sale, in every province
Lists each lot a council has put up for a home: where it lies, its
price, the standing it asks and whether you have it. 'help homes'
        tells the rest.

province home -- your homes, their rent and anything owed
    province home pay
    province home pay <owner>
    province home leave
Shows every home you own, where it stands, its monthly rent and
        anything owed.

'province home pay' clears what you owe, from your bank and then
your purse, and opens a shuttered home at once. 'province home pay
<owner>' pays what is owed on someone else's home on a province
        lot.

'province home leave' gives up a lot you have not built on. A
standing home is left from inside it, with 'house leave'.

province feast -- the settlement's feast
    province feast confirm
Says whether a feast is called, when the long table in the food
hall will be laid, and who is its best cook. A council member also
sees what it costs and whether it can be called now.

A council member calls it with 'province feast confirm' in the food
hall. The treasury pays 10,000 silver and the cooks take 25 of
each kind of food the stores hold, from at least four kinds; a
settlement feasts once a season. A feast the winter stores earned
costs nothing, and calls itself after a day or two if the council
        does not.

To take part, cook a dish of your own with 'cook recipe <dish>' and
'give <dish> to cook' in the food hall before the toast; the cook
names the best. Be at the long table when the meal is served, or
come in and 'eat' while it lasts. Its good cheer comes to each
        guest once a day.

Working for the settlement:

province collect -- bring a building's output into the stores
Standing at a building's lot, a council member collects what it has
        made into the stores. Only what the stores have room for is taken;
the rest waits. A building on its favoured ground, or joined to
the inn by paths, makes a little more.

A worker on the job board's Bring in the Harvest order may collect
the food at a farm, pasture, fishery, food hall or shrine.

province deposit <silver> -- give silver to the treasury
Gives silver from your purse to the settlement's treasury, which
pays the crews' wages, the bounties and the board's jobs. It works
in a storehouse, inn or treasury, or at the planning table in the
central square. The gift cannot be taken back.

Council only:

province consecrate <element> -- dedicate the shrine to an element
In the shrine, dedicates it to fire, earth, water or air. The
        element shapes its blessings.

province bounty list -- raise the pool's pay for a while
    province bounty add <resource> <amount> <percent> <days>
    province bounty cancel <resource>
A bounty raises what the treasury pays for one resource brought to
the pool (wood, stone, clay, coal or food), so haulers bring what
the settlement needs. The percent is the new rate, from 100 (the
usual pay) to 200. The amount caps how many units earn it, 0 for
no cap, and it lasts up to 14 days. Anyone can list bounties; the
        council adds and cancels them.

Example: 'province bounty add stone 500 150 3' pays half again for
the next 500 stone over three days.

province set rate <resource> <percent> -- lasting pay rates, and where the gates stand
    province set rate reset
    province set gate <north|east|south|west>
'set rate' changes the pool's usual pay for a resource for good,
from 50 to 200 percent; 'reset' puts every rate back.

'set gate' moves the settlement's gates to another side, so
travellers arrive from where the road does. The first move is
free; each later one costs the treasury 1,000,000 silver. Example:
        'province set gate south'.
